SAN JOSE, Calif., March 10, 2009 — Mayor Chuck Reed and Council Member Madison Nguyen recognized Airtronics Metal Products in a commendation presented to company executives at today’s San Jose City Council meeting. During the presentation, Airtronics was cited for the benefits it provides to the San Jose economy and community.

With a 65,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in San Jose’s Enterprise Zone, Airtronics is a full-service precision electronic sheet metal design, engineering and manufacturing company. Established in 1961, Airtronics‘ services range from design and mechanical engineering support to prototyping, precision fabricating, painting, silk screening and final assembly. The company provides custom engineering and value-added manufacturing using the latest in CAD design, production equipment, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

The City of San Jose commendation recognizes Airtronics for its significant and continued contributions to the region’s economic vitality through its participation in the Enterprise Zone Hiring Credit program (which resulted in the creation of more than 70 jobs for economically and otherwise disadvantaged individuals); its focus on continuous improvement and exceptional quality; and its investment in the education of tomorrow’s mechanical engineers through its outreach program with San Jose State University. Airtronics currently has nearly 100 employees, all of whom receive quality medical benefits.

The commendation presented by the Mayor and City Council is a part of San Jose’s Business Appreciation Initiative, a key component of the San Jose Redevelopment Agency’s Strategy. This business retention effort recognizes San Jose companies that actively support the City’s efforts to maintain a strong, vital city for the 21st century.
